    Salaam

I heard Ghamidi sb saying that Islam did not allow any new slaves be made in a war . But in the hadith written below it clearly says captives were taken.

So what has Ghamidi sb to say about this hadith.

    Thanks

Captives taken and sex with captives

    Narrated Ibn Muhairiz:

I entered the Mosque and saw Abu Said Al-Khudri and sat beside him and asked him about Al-Azl (i.e. coitus interruptus). Abu Said said, “We went out with Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) for the Ghazwa of Banu Al-Mustaliq and we received captives from among the Arab captives and we desired women and celibacy became hard on us and we loved to do coitus interruptus. So when we intended to do coitus interrupt us, we said, ‘How can we do coitus interruptus before asking Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) who is present among us?” We asked (him) about it and he said, ‘It is better for you not to do so, for if any soul (till the Day of Resurrection) is predestined to exist, it will exist.”

Where does it say that they were enslaved?

      Hi

They were captives which means prisoners. So sex can only be allowed if they were made slave girls.

So if they were not enslaved then how can the companions be allowed to have sex with them?

      Thanks

The narration is not allowing or disallowing anything. It should be kept in mind that as a societal norm, the nikah of captive women was considered absolved once they were captured. It should also be remembered that nikah entails a public announcement of intimate relationship between two people – a condition that was considered as a default in case of slave women at that time. Most narrations do not relate the context so it should not be assumed.

The context clearly is: The captive women with whom the companions desired sex and asked the Prophet’s advice. The Prophet by giving them advice allowed it.

Maybe the hadith is problematic, Ghamidi sb can shed more light.

      Thanks

According to Ghamidi sahib after prohibition of enslaving the captives of war this practice ceased. The incident referred is said to be before the prohibition.
