Established History Of Isa صلى الله عليه وسلم Being Crucified
Posted by A Hasan on May 17, 2021 at 1:57 pmWilliam Lane Craig often says that the rejection of the established history of isa صلى الله عليه وسلم being crucified is the Achilles heel of Islam.
Why would Allah cause 600 years of people to be deceived?
How did early Christianity spread so quickly if this wasn’t a real event?

Contributor May 17, 2021 at 1:59 pmAlso wouldn’t isa صلى الله عليه وسلم be considered a shaheed? So how could we say that he is dead when the Quran says don’t say about those who were martyred as dead

Moderator May 18, 2021 at 12:29 amWe cannot say shaheed because Quran itself says Jesus has died with natural cause. Since we accept Quran to be word of God, we have to reject that belief.
Can you share where William Craig said this?

Crucifixion in Quran: “And due to this claim of theirs(Jews) that: Indeed, We killed The Messiah, Jesus, the Son of Mary, The Messenger of God. But they did not kill Him and neither did they crucify Him. Rather this matter was Suspicious for them. They are in doubt over this issue. They have no knowledge about this event. They are only following Speculations/Conjectures. They did not kill him for sure. Rather God raised him unto himself…” Surah An-Nisa; Ch: 04, Verse: 157-158
My Observations on the Verse Above:
God’s Testimony to Prophet Mohamad:
01) Assuring him that Prophet Jesus was saved by God. God Rescued Jesus and the Jews Failed to lay his hands upon Him.
02) The Entire event of Crucifixion was based on Suspicion and people have doubts over this event. [ People are not certain that it happened exactly the way they narrate. They thought that their forefathers got rid of Jesus. In reality they are mistaken.]
03) The People have no Knowledge about this event. [ They have no reliable source of knowledge. There are No Eye Witness accounts(Zero) of this particular event. The 4 Gospel Accounts(Mathew, Mark, Luke & John) in the New Testament are Anonymous Narratives ]. We Don’t know who reported these events and who wrote them down. The People claiming to know this event infact don’t know it personally. They have no reliable evidence to support their claim.
04) The People are following Speculations & Conjectures. ( People are following anonymous stories, they heard through word of mouth from their forefathers through generations spanning over centuries. The narratives are themselves fabricated to support the belief that Jesus was Crucified for Sins of Humanity.( Saint Paul Testifies in New Testament that Atonement of Sin through Jesus was his belief, in his letters to various Churches ). The Narratives themselves are full of Contradictions. The 4 Gospel Accounts about the Crucifixion are full of details that contradict each other.) For Example The last words of Jesus on the Cross differs depending upon which gospel you read. Similarly The condition of Jesus when he was being taken to the Cross Differs among the Gospels. Who witnessed the crucifixion. Did the Disciples of Jesus witnessed the event personally. or did they fled the Scene. etc etc. Just read the Gospels Horizontally and compare the same stories in one gospel with the same story in the other gospel and you would realize the differences and irreconcilable contradictions.
Conclusion: On one hand we have Revelation of God, Quran which is historically & reliably attributed to Prophet Mohammad and on the other hand we have Anonymous contradictory narratives of the Gospels told by “God-knows-who” to support a particular belief. You have to decide for yourself.. which is more authentic as a Testimony and more so as an Establish Source of knowledge and History.
God Bless.

We do not need to argue or convince anyone… I am not sure why we need to do that. Even Allah instructed prophets not to do this. Their job was just to deliver message. Only Allah can provide guidance whoever is deserving to be guided and whoever seeks his guidance.

Member July 27, 2021 at 5:03 pmI am not sure what spread of christianity has to do with how Jesus died?
Also what does 600 years of deception mean. Whether Jesus died or killed has nothing to do with the message Jesus brought and the message people were supposed to follow. Believing if Jesus died or killed either way doesn’t make any differece in those 600 years if a person will go to heaven or hell. It was not a sin to believe either way until Quran clarified it.

Christian academics donot accept Barnabas authority. The earliest scrolls are foulnd in 15th century. Even then it is credited as some sort of tempering by turks. My question is how we can make it argument against christian. Isnt it similar to what christian claim about missing Quranic text based on narration in hadith books? In that case, Christian are at better place because majority of Muslims believe in those narrations -

Moderator July 31, 2021 at 1:43 pmAcademically, the whole writing and compilation of Gospels can be questioned and Christiaity stands on a very thin ice if we were to approach this from an academic standpoint. Regarding Barnabas, I personally do not find it appealing to present Barnabas as an argument to non-muslims. However, Quran has already answered this Question with one fact-based statement and a second principle based statement. Fact-based statement being that matter was made “dubious” thus not denying their claim altogether, infact pointing towards the fact they it was made dubious in way which could have lead others to believe that Jesus (sws) was crucified and secondly, the principle stamement that Prophets (sws) (i.e. Rasuls) are under protection of God and God would never let munkireen touch a Prophet like this.

Moderator August 2, 2021 at 3:53 amSince Bani-Israel were to be punished till the day of judgement (Qiyamah), it seems that they were given every opportunity to back out and revert back to the truth and also every chance till the end until they actually commited the crime from their end, so that no excuse would then be admissible as per requirements of Justice. That is why maybe the matter had to be made dubious for them to actually commit the crime.
