Salam. The right to choose partner for marriage belongs to the boy and girl. It is not a violation of parents’ rights and therefore cannot be called as “sarkashi” or rebellion. Parents are advised to only counsel their children in this matter and leave the decision to them. Children too should try and talk to their parents in a good manner in order to resolve the matter with everyone’s approval. Please see the following response by Ghamidi sahab:
