– One relates to Nafsi Uloom and the second one relates to Allah’s scheme of tests and trials in this world:
As far as Nafsi Uloom are concerned, they can be mastered to an extent where one sees things while being awake just the way one sees dreams during sleep. They’re not reality, but they’re not exaclty dreams as well. The best way to put it would be watching dreams while being awake and obersrving that phenomenon while being awake. Sufis, Yogis and Mystics can achieve this through certain mind and spiritual excercises. It is because of this, they can demonstrate some supernatural abilities which are not supernatural in reality, but are a manifestation of the same ‘Nafsi Uloom‘ hidden under blanket of religion.
As far as the scheme of Tests and Trials is concerned, there have been some areas left open-ended for our test, one of which has been discussed in Quran, Surah Jinn, where Jinns can eavesdrop and extract some information relating to future which are then relayed back to humans. Since the test we humans have been put through has been of both knowledge (‘ilm‘) and of actions (‘amal‘), and this one is to test whether one actually believes in God based on solid epistemology: intuition, observation and intellectual arguments, inference and empirical evidence or one gets obsessed with superficial display of power.
Please refer to the following responses by Ghamidi Sahab where these points have been discussed at length:
