    ASSALAMUALAIKUM

How laymen should read books like tarikh e Tabari,Ibn Kathir etc. Like there are many unsound Rawayaat?

And if Ghamidi sahab has some good recommendations for laymen, then please?

And if some scholar has done some work on these books to give the authentication of Rawayaat?

No history book is immune to unauthentic references. We need to read history by observing some principles:

    • Events are accepted for their probability in normal matter.
    • Politics is a game of propaganda and malignancy.
    • Allegations need authenticity to be proven or believed.
    • Major and established events are to be followed to see the pattern and results.
    • Individual reports are to be accepted or rejected under the light of established history.

And in these history books, Sirah of Prophet SAW and his companions is also present (including the details of war and number of people present there etc). So would that be also accepted on the criteria given by you or on the criteria of Hadith?

And if so then the history after Prophet SAW and his companions like of kings and battles and wars etc would be tested on that criteria?

Sira should be read on the same pattern. Qurna is the most authentic source of Seerah. I could find only one book which examined Seerah in the lighto f Quan and that is Hayaat e Rasool e Ummi by Khalid Masood sahib. Its English translation is published by al Mawrid recently.

Whatever History your read, it needs a critical eye to penetrate to the reality. Ground realities are to be considered. History repeats itself. the segments of the history you find still alive in your present. The one who does not well aware of his own living society cannot be able to understand history either.

In Sirah we sometimes get these things also like romans had 100000 and someone other says that it was 200000. Now both amounts can fit in that place, so how to know?

This is narrators estimation and sometimes it is not possible to verify it.
