    Assalamualaikum

If we culturally may not do somethings (maybe out of respect) which Prophet SAW or his companions did e.g burning Quran (the Quran books which are not in a good condition) which we culturally consider a bad thing (out of respect of the Quran) but Hazrat Uthman RA did burn the Quran. So would these things be regarded as cultural ways of showing respect or going beyond the limit (because weren’t doing it out of respect but Prophet SAW or his companions did that thing)?

These are etiquettes of respect, which may vary from cuture to culture and from time to time. Usually burning a book (anybook) is considered disrespectful in many cultures now a days, unless there is a very good reason to do so. And in few, no reason would be considered an acceptable reason to burn a book now a days becasue of environmental concerns.

However, not everything considered disrespectul in a particular culture necessarily means that it has a religious bearing as well. Religion usually does not interfere in such societal matters and let people freely act as per ‘Maruf‘ in their particular society.
