What is the status of court marriage in Islam.?
In society we see every body says there should be 2 witnesses?
Is this shariah?
Or a cultural thing! -

The essence.of marriage is to announce and declare that a man and woman are now husband and wife. It should be made public anyway. Two witnesses are arranged specifically so that if there is a dispute they should be called. They accept this responsibility. This is a legal way in Islamic shariah.
The court marriage is a valid marriage. The state arranges it with its authority.

I have read quran and I could not find the rules regarding how to do nikkah.
To announce and have 2 witness.
So from where do we actually extract this way?
( from sunnah )?
Do we find any ahadess regarding this?
And is it compulsory to have 2 specified witnesses? ( if someone announce in a ceremony, will that not be enough or not considered nikkah )

For a matter between two parties, it is advised in the Qur’an to hold at least two witnesses. See the verses 2:285.
The same has been done in marriage. The holy prophet used to do the same. And we have this practice.
