The Qur’an adopts the titles of a people that have already been given to or adopted by them. Bani Israel means that children of Israel, prophet Yaqob. They were the descendents of prophet Yaqob. Ad and Thamud were the known by these names. Also, there were call the Qawm (people) of Hud, the prophet, and Qawm of Saleh, the prophet.
