Teaching Quran For A Fee
I teach Qur’anic Arabic grammar and rely on student fees for financial support, but I’m torn by doubts. I’ve heard that Islam discourages making a profession out of teaching the Qur’an for personal gain. The dilemma is that I have deep passion for teaching the Qur’an and my students really benefit from my teaching, praising my skills, but I charge fee because I rely on this income to support myself. If I switch jobs, I won’t be able to teach the Qur’an and my students will struggle finding another teacher, and if I teach for free, I’ll struggle financially. The dilemma makes me confused and worried. I fear Allah’s displeasure and worry about the consequences in the afterlife. I’m afraid of going to Hell. I aspire to enter Jannah. Please guide me how I can balance my passion for teaching the Qur’an with Islamic values and avoid jeopardizing my afterlife?
