Asslamo Alaikum! My name is Muhammad Safeer Shahid. As we all know to get a good job in corporate world is not that easy. So to make it a bit easier for me I have prepared a Resume in which I overstated my 1st job experience for example I was employed there for almost 9 months and I have written it as 1.5 year as my job experience. I know its a misrepresentation but in a corporate world sometimes we need to overstate the things to get an edge. My question is, what is the islamic point of view about this and is my bread and butter earned on the basis of this haram? or halal? I am a bit worried about it.

This is not exaggeration but a lie. One should avoid it. Such thing makes little difference. It is the skill and competence that matters now. So you should focus on your skills and make true statements.

However the income or salary one earns is the result of one’s efforts therefore the earning is not haram but the falsehood is a sin for which one should repent.
