Zakat On Rental Income (Mortgage)
I have a question regarding Zakat on a rental property. I own a home in Canada that I rent out, while I live in a rental unit in Texas. Do I need to pay Zakat on my rental income, considering that I cover part of the expenses out of my own pocket, in addition to paying property taxes. The actual rental income is less than the mortgage payment so I have to pay from my own pocket to meet the mortgage payment. If yes what would be the ratio?

As for my understanding, rental income is liable to zakat at 10%.
