I believe every ideology is inherently expansionist—whether it is liberalism, secularism, or any religion. When in power, it enforces its own ideas on other civilizations.
For example, liberalism promotes democracy, free markets, and human rights. However, when it gains dominance, it reshapes societies according to its values. This can be seen in events like the regime changes in Iraq and Libya, economic sanctions on Afghanistan, and other interventions. Similarly, secularism has led to restrictions on religious symbols, such as France’s hijab ban, and India’s crackdown on Muslim religious practices.
Islam, however, has historically coexisted with other religions. For instance, Jews experienced a golden age under Muslim rule in Al-Andalus, and despite centuries of Muslim governance, Hindus have remained the majority in India.
While there is a fundamental difference between Islamic and Western civilizations—Islam emphasizes submission to God, whereas the West prioritizes individual freedom (basically slave to own desires)—coexistence is possible. This can only be achieved if both sides respect each other’s values and refrain from injustice and transgression against other communities.
