When the Qur’an talks about God’s hands etc how do we know it originally was not meant to be literal? Because in 42:11 the verse does actually talk about “nothing like him” that doesn’t necessarily mean physically as the verse is in the context of creating.

God is not like His creatures; words like His hands and His face are not used to describe His physical structure but to indicate His power or that His being is there forever (Yabqa wajho rbbik). Therefore we have no clue of His physical being.
