“Assalamualaikum. I work in the field of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), where my job is to improve website rankings using targeted keywords. A major part of SEO is Off-Page SEO, which involves creating backlinks.

A backlink is when another website links to your website — it’s like a vote of confidence that tells search engines your content is trustworthy or useful.

According to Google’s official guidelines, backlinks should be earned naturally — meaning people should link to your site because they genuinely find your content valuable.

But in reality, almost everyone in the SEO industry builds backlinks manually — through guest posts, directory submissions, forums, Web 2.0 platforms, etc. It seems very difficult to rank a website without creating backlinks yourself.

So my question is: Is manual backlink building considered haram since every one doing it?

‘Since everyone is doing something wrong’ doesn’t make a thing halal or ethical.

If this is unethical it stays unethical no matter how many people do it.

If your moral sense judges this practice as fake or creation of a false impression, it would be a lie.

But company already knew about this practice then what about in that case?

You mean you make a lie with the permission of your company. Does it make it ethical?
