Bani-Israel And Bani-Ismael In The Light Of The Rank Of Shahdah
According to ustad Ghamdi, the responsibility bestowed on Bani Israel in the time of Hazrat Musa was shifted to Bani Ismail with the arrival of prophet Muhammad. Because of the responsibility on Bani Israel the breach of their covenant with God resulted in punishment till the day of qiyamah as stated in surah Araaf verse 167. Since the responsibility has been shifted to Bani Ismail is there a similar punishment placed on Bani Ismail for the breach of their covenant with God ? And if no isn’t this a double standard between Bani Ismail and Bani Israel because you’re punishing one nation for the breach but not the other for theirs ?

Bani-Ismail never committed the kind of transgressions during the life time of Prophet Muhammad (sws) the way Bani-Israel committed them during their time. The revelation came to an end after Prophet Muhammad (sws), therefore we can only infer now from the example of Bani-Israel that how and when Bani-Ismail will also be subjected to punishment if they do not fulfil their duties. According to Ghamidi Sahab, this status is not absolute, rather it had some pre-conditions attached to it, and whenever Bani-Ismail violated those conditions, they were punished in this world.

Thank you for your answer. You are right that bani ismail never committed the transgressions during the time of the prophet but what arrangement did god have for their transgressions after the prophet and which ayah refers to this arrangement for punishing them after the prophet ?

Since the rank is the same i.e. “Shahdah” therefore, whatever conditions of this rank are mentioned in Quran for Bani-Israel, Bani-Ismael will be studied in the light of same principles.
