    Asalam u alaikum!

My daughter is getting pip which is personal independence payment in UK. A benefit paid to someone with health issues.

I have been collecting that benefit on her behalf and been using that as she is living with me, so I am taking care of all her needs.

When it comes to zakat I have been adding it as my income and calculating zakat after offloading my debts from my total income which includes this benefit.

Is this correct? Or is my daughter is liable of her own zakat even though she is not using any income?

Also I assume that 10% will be applied on the benefit same as income when calculating zakat. Is this correct?

    Alright.

So I assume that if I am using that income then I am responsible for zakat?

Also now coming to Nisab, as per my understanding on salary or these benefits if the tax is more than 10% then no need for zakat. Is this correct?

You can choose to pay zakat. But if the money is solely used for her as a separate person and received on her behalf, then separate calculation of that amount can also be done on her name.
As for nisab on income/salary/production, please follow the tax exemption point/slab for that particular source of income in UK tax law. Whatever threshold is considered taxable, the same amount should be considered nisab for zakat purposes. Nisab is the amount below which zakat is exempt. It is true that if the tax paid is more than zakat amount, then there will be no zakat liability. Infact, excess tax paid can be carried forward to the next year to offset against next year’s zakat amount.

Zakat calculation still needs to be done for both zakat on production/income and zakat on wealth, for which percentages and Nisab thresholds are different.
