  • Wanting To Spend For The Hereafter But Doubts About Hereafter

Wanting spend a lot in the hereafter by going above and beyond such that one wants to reach that level where he lives a very simple life and gives the rest of his wealth to the poor or even to the level where he deprives himself to help others, to achieve higher ranks in the hereafter. But there is a strong hesitation which causes stress because what if there is no hereafter?

As a workaround, what if the person just uses the God given empathy and kindness towards others and considers this: if there is no hereafter, it is still fine, I give this money away in that case as I don’t want to see others suffer but if there is hereafter, then that’s what my primary purpose is.

This way, there is not much of hesitation in giving away wealth beyond the obligatory part.

Will doing this workaround diminish the rewards he could get from hereafter?

The reward for a deed varies according to a person’s circumstances—both external and internal—as well as the timing of the act. For example, the charity of a wealthy individual is not equal to that of a poor person who gives from his own food. This, however, does not mean one should refrain from doing good deeds. In times of doubt about the Hereafter, such efforts are still commendable and will earn reward, though naturally not of the same magnitude as a deed performed by a Believer with full conviction and sincerity.
