The wife requested a Khula, and the husband agreed to it. The wife kept the Mahr and some gifts; in return, the husband asked to see the children at least three days a week. The wife verbally agreed to these terms, and the husband pronounced the divorce. However, after the divorce, the wife refused to sign the written agreement, demanding additional concessions. A year has passed, and the wife is now taking the husband to court in Australia for a financial settlement and full custody of the children. Right she allows him to see kids for 2 days only for few hours.

Is she Islamically correct? If yes, then how long should a husband pay to his ex wife for maintenance?

The husband already pays the child support decided by govt. Of Australia. Apart from this can the wife ask for more?

For matters related to divorce, we have a dedicated fatwa service. Please submit the details at the following link, and a formal fatwa will be issued to you:

As a general principle, the Quran instructs that some form of maintenance should be provided to a divorced woman. Sharia does not specify an exact amount; it should be determined according to societal norms. In most cases, whatever amount the court has set is considered sufficient. You may refer to the following link for further details, where the relevant section from Ghamidi Sahab’s book Meezan has been shared:

Any moral wrongdoing committed by the other party is a separate matter, and they will be accountable for their dishonesty and deceit.
