  • Questions Regarding Zakat Calculation On Gold, Silver, And Cash

    Assalamu Alaikum,

I have a few questions about zakat and would appreciate your guidance:1) If a person has 1 tola of gold, 10 tolas of silver, and 500,000 PKR in cash, should all of these be combined to calculate zakat based on the silver nisab?

    2) If a person has only 4 tolas of gold and 10,000 PKR in cash, should the gold and cash be combined to determine zakat based on the silver nisab?

    3) If a person has only 2 tolas of gold and 10 tolas of silver (no cash), should the values of gold and silver be combined to calculate zakat according to the silver nisab?

Kindly clarify the rulings for these three scenarios.

    Wa’alikum Salam,

Yes, all the assets will be combined and their total monetary value will be compared to Nisab in order to calculate zakat on wealth.

The same ruling applies to all the three scenarios.
