Some Queries About Zakat
Assalam u alaykum.
My question is about some queries related to zakat.
1) Will zakat be applied to a plot that is empty and as an asset?
2) will zakat be applied to an apartment that is both asset and generates revenue in the form of rent from tenants?
3) will an apartment in another city that is used less often by the owner, only when he travels to that city or for vacation, will this apartment be counted for zakat?
4) a woman who is already helping her brother financially every month says that she becomes eligible for zakat but after helping his brother, she isn’t left with much money in that month to pay zakat (both on asset and gold, and salary). So she was wondering that can she without telling her brother about the intention, make an intention of paying zakat so that her obligation is fulfilled and her brother’s need are also fulfilled? She wants to hide the intention of zakat so that her brother doesn’t feel strange that he’s being given zakat. Making it appear as a general help she wishes to intend this as zakat. Because regardlessly, she has to help her brother anyways. So if she can do intention of zakat, it would fulfill her obligation…. So can she do such intention? Will it fulfill zakat obligation? And is it okay to hide this intention by not telling brother that this is zakat?
5) is the income tax, the government takes on salary of government employees be counted as zakat given?
