    Assalam o Alaikum

I would like to ask if someone is reading four rakats and in the second rakat they forget to stand up in tashahhud and went all the way up to tasleem however they realise and stand up for the third rakat without saying tasleem. Do they have to perform sajdah sahu.

    Jazak Allah

If, in a four-rak‘ah prayer, a person forgets to sit for the first tashahhud (qa‘dah al-ula) after the second rak‘ah and stands up for the third rak‘ah, then because the first sitting is wajib (necessary), sajdah sahw becomes obligatory due to leaving it out.

If the person has already stood up fully straight, they should not sit back down. Rather, they should continue the prayer and perform sajdah sahw before giving salam at the end.
If they remember during the prayer, they should complete the prayer and then perform sajdah sahw at the end. If they remember before giving salam and are still in the state of prayer, they will still perform sajdah sahw at the end.
    And Allah knows best.

Apologies I think my question wasn’t clear. So let’s say that in the second rakat I sat down for tashahud. I read atahiyaat and I read Ash-hadooAllah. Normally we stand up after that. Now suppose if a person forgets and keeps reading durood and then the usual rabbana atina, as soon as he finishes rabbana aatina he realises that he was reading 4 rakaats so immediately he stands up. Does he have to do sajda sahuw. Thanks

This is something normal. You didn’t leave the sitting (qa‘dah); you only recited something extra. In fact, reciting these things is a source of reward. It is not forbidden to read them. You may even recite in the first sitting whatever you normally recite in the last sitting. This is not a mistake.
