    A’ssalamu alaikum

The purpose of fasting is to attain Taqwa (God-consciousness) and to avoid meaningless things. Does music also fall under meaningless things, especially when we haven’t set aside separate time for instrumental music but listen to it while working?

On regular days, I am well-disciplined and avoid meaningless things, but during fasting, is listening to music in this manner considered a sin?

Assalamualaikum.Thank you for taking the time to respond.Sir, I watched the video, but it did not provide a solution to my specific issue. It discussed the matter of fasting becoming invalid at a very general level. I have read quite a lot about fasting, including “Tazkiya-e-Nafs” by Maulana Amin Ahsan Islahi, “Meezan” by Javed Ahmad Ghamidi, and “Sawm-e-Ramadan” by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. However, the strange thing is that I do not take a ruling about myself from my own heart, because it is very much inclined toward music. Since music is not haram but rather a blessing of God, my simple question is: does it fall under “laghw” (meaningless or futile things)?
