The basic things have been encapsulated in the following hadith:

Narrated Abu Huraira: One day while the Prophet ( [‘ALLAH bless him and grant him salvation’]) was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked, “What is faith?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) replied, ‘Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, (the) meeting with Him, His Apostles, and to believe in Resurrection.” Then he further asked, “What is Islam?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) replied, “To worship Allah Alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly, to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan.” Then he further asked, “What is Ihsan (perfection)?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) replied, “To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you.”

Assalamu alaikum,As a Muslim, I believe in the fundamental aspects of the religion—Faith (Iman), Practice (Islam), and Spiritual Excellence (Ihsan). My question is: If someone wants to learn and understand the religion properly and systematically, what books, sources, or methods should they follow?

Hmm, but which school of thought should be followed, and does it have an organized literature that can be studied? In my view, regarding the Farahi school of thought, how can one properly learn the fundamentals of their ideas?

It would be a long journey then.

Start by reading the book Meezan, and listen to its lectures.

“Hmm, I have already read the book Meezan when I consciously accepted Islam, and now I intend to listen to the lectures.”

“What should one do after completing the lectures on Meezan? If this is a long journey of learning, I am ready to commit to it with patience.”

Al mawrid Lahore has a free Aalim program

You can check on their website

      Arabic language is also necessary

Al mawrid teaches this too. Both in Pakistan as a part of aalim course, and stand alone in the states, also ustadh Nouman Ali khan’s course on YouTube by the name of Dream is very good

“However, I want to acquire basic knowledge first, because the concerns mentioned in the link that Dr. Irfan Shahzad sent are the same concerns that Ustaz Imam is discussing in it. And recently I also watched a video by Ahmed Javaid about ‘knowledge and information’, and since then I have had these same concerns.”

      Great concern

Aalim course goes through various schools of thought

And if you choose to learn Arabic from nouman ali khan and poetry from al mawrid, you’ll get natural exposure to two different schools of thought

“Thank you. Currently, my Persian language classes are going on, which means I will have to learn three languages first.I want to do this because, in my view, everything else is meaningless and it feels like a waste of valuable time. However, I also want to ask: after all this, should I pursue an Aalim-e-Deen course or something else? Because I do not want to become a religious scholar.”

In my opinion knowing languages is a great place to start.

Thereafter you can decide whether you want to join the aalim course; whether you want to do the whole 7 years or just a couple based on how much you want to commit.

Will these courses be available in the future, meaning after one or two years?

Aalim course involves technicalities. You may proceed with al Bayan Tadabbur e Qur’an, ilmun Nabi (,recently published by GCIL). Then you may choose to read or listen whatever you like.

“In my opinion, your advice is correct. These things will help develop a way of thinking or provide a criterion, after which it will not be difficult to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong, no matter what one reads.Has the second volume of Ilm-un-Nabi been published?”

Second vol is not published yet

So after reading the books you suggested, will a solid foundation be built, or you may add something more if you like? Thanks.

Sorry for bothering you again, but this is something written later and I will read it as well. But generally, what are the primary (mother) books of Islam?
