    Salam,

Do waterproof or water resistant barriers that prevent water reaching the body/skin invalidate ghusl or wudhu e.g. makeup, waxy antiperspirant barriers or thick creams etc.? I’ve read that they should be removed but what if one doesn’t remove these barriers but just pours water over their body during wudhu/ghusl, is this valid?

    JazakAllah!

If removing them is not easy and time for prayer is short, you can do masah on them, just like to we do on socks.

What if there was time and we still don’t remove these barriers on the skin before ghusl and wudhu? Would these barriers be included as part of the limb when being washed or would the ghusl/wudhu be invalid? I feel a waxy/sticky antiperspirant layer and have read its water proof or water resistant and I just pour water over my skin but I’m not sure if this is valid for my ghusl

Yes, you can have them while doing wudu. Deen is easy; it allows you not to wash your feet when you are wearing socks. If you are wearing somehting more difficult to remove, you can use the same concession.

JazakAllah for your reply! Is this the same for ghusl as well? Do I need to try and scrub this antiperspirant layer off or is it permissible for me to leave it on my skin and just pour water over it since it is water resistant/water proof and forms a waxy layer on my skin. And would my ghusl be valid or would I be sinful if I continue to use these products despite it leaving a waxy water proof layer on my skin?

Manage your ghusal with these products. Ghusal should be complete. Wudu is frequent but Ghusal is not. Therefore concession is not extended for Ghusal.
