If a democratic government makes laws that interfere in a person’s private life—such as restrictions on dress, beard, or other permissible personal matters—and it is very difficult for an ordinary citizen to change these laws through political or legal means due to many reasons. Is it acceptable to quietly not follow such laws in one’s personal life?

Shariah has obliged us to abide by the law. So one must follow them and register one’s protest. However if one finds ways not to follow such kind of f repressive laws without invoking the law enforcement agencies one can do that, one is not sinful.
