Ruling On Stipends When Denied Training
I have been appointed to a six-month government training program that pays a monthly stipend by government. However, my assigned supervisor is entirely uninterested in training me. Instead, he has indirectly given me access to the online attendance portal and instructed me to stay home and mark myself present every day. I traveled to the office in another city at my own expense to seek the training, but I was ignored and sat idle all day. If I insist on being trained, I fear retaliation from this corrupt supervisor. My parents and peers are advising me to stay home, mark the attendance, and collect the stipend as it’s given by government to support you, arguing that the supervisor bears the ultimate sin before Allah and that I should consider this an ‘answered prayer’ for an easy job. My question is: Under Islamic teachings, is it permissible (halal) for me to accept this stipend by marking fake attendance when the supervisor refuses to train me as I’ve no other option. I can utilize this time by studying for some permanent job and this stipend shall help me with expenses. I’m in dilemma, please guide me what should I do.
