@Irfan76 So medically, if a pregnancy is uncomplicated and low risk, there is no harm in intercourse though. Infact it might help with inducing labour if pregnancy is prolonged. However, there are conditions (such as placenta previa and vasa previa) in late pregnancy that can put both mommy and baby at significant risk if intercourse takes place. However, if u are seeing a registered obstetrician or atleast are having regular ultrasounds ( which would reveal these issues), u will be told beforehand that a condition exists and to abstain from marital intimacy. Tbh, even in early pregnancy (cervical insufficiency, history of preterm labor, etc) conditions might produce a high risk pregnancy that will lead to doctors advising caution but these are things the doctor will tell you normally. This is, of course, is not considering the women’s physical symptoms which might make it intimacy distresssing to some women, and ofcourse a husband should be mindful of that. That being said, if baby is safe and wife is willing (some women might experience a heightened libido in pregnancy), I don’t believe there is anything wrong with it.

I would like to add, it is absolutely in the couples best interest to directly ask this question to their (registered) medical provider, I.e if intercourse in their pregnancy is safe. I say this because cultural expectations/ bias might lead to a doctor to assume a couple is not engaging even if the pregnancy is a high risk one ( also because some people might visit quacks who are not qualified to access risk). High risk pregnancies may include twin/ multiple pregnancies, women with history of unexplained vagina cramping / bleeding, women with history of previous miscarriage, history of premature labour, women experiencing unexplained fluid (or amniotic) leaking, placenta previa, vasa previa and others.
