Zakat
I have emailed twice to get advice from Ghamidi sahab, over last few weeks, through the email address provided, but unfortunately I have not received any response so far. I have decided to use this general platform to ask my question. I live in UK, and pay my taxes here. UK is known to be a welfare state, hence they look after their citizens well, without any prejudice of race, religion etc. like free health service, education, unemployment benefits etc. during one of his discussions, Ghamidi sahab, explained that taxes what we pay can be included in the calculation over zakat. which I thoroughly agreed with. as I also pay high tax rate. I have been following Ghamidi sahab advice. but recently I heard some ulema that the zakat should only be paid to muslim. this is creating an issue. I will not be able to find deserving muslim in UK, for this purpose. I want to clarify that what I am doing is right, by including my taxes in calculating the zakat. as UK government provides services to all its citizens, not only muslims but majority of christians and others.
