Khalwat With The Opposite Gender In Professional Settings
So I now share my closed off office space with a male colleague where we study or do research work ( used to be another lady there and now she is gone ). It is pretty closed off because of the air conditioning but there are people that come into the room like once or twice a day ( supervisors , staff) . We mostly just do our own thing or occasionally talk about work stuff ( mostly administrative guidance I ask since I’m relatively new). Would this be classified as khalwat?

In islam directive are given with reason or causes. The directive to avoid seclusion with opposite gender is to avoid possible intimacy. Offices are usually not built to give room to intimacy. It is not khalwat. However the office or room provides complete seclusion that may encourage intimacy then one abound avoid it.
The person involved in the situation decides according to the situation.
