I am enrolled in a government internship that provides a basic living allowance, but I was assigned to a site five hours away with improper accommodation and a supervisor who provided absolutely no training or guidance. Because my presence there felt completely useless and the conditions were harsh, I intentionally remained absent for an entire month. I have not quit the program because I am waiting for my scheduled transfer to a beneficial online training module next month, meaning I am still officially on their roster and unable to take another morning job.
Due to my absence, the automated HR system heavily penalized me by deducting 28,000 for all missed working days, but it automatically deposited 21,000 into my account to cover the weekends and official public holidays, as the department has no “sandwich policy” that docks weekend pay for surrounding absences. Since I did not deceive the system, the department failed to provide the promised training environment, and I am essentially on standby for my upcoming online module, is it Halal for me to consume this 21,000 allowance that the system automatically calculated and issued to me?
