    Ghamidi Sahab clarifies that the “squeezing” of the grave experienced by the companion Saad bin Muaz was not a form of punishment (Azab-e-Qabr), but rather a natural and inevitable part of the transition from this world to the next.

    Ghamidi Sahab explains that just as birth is a painful and “suffocating” process for both a mother and a child, death and the entry into the next world (the Barzakh) involve a similar transitional phase. This “squeezing” or feeling of constriction (ghutan) is a universal law that applies to everyone, regardless of their piety. He argues that if this were a punishment, a person of Saad bin Muaz’s stature—for whom the Throne of Allah shook and 70,000 angels attended the funeral—would certainly have been exempt.The squeezing of the grave is distinct from the “Trial of the Grave” or punishment for sins.


    While the “squeezing” occurred because it is a law of nature, but for a righteous person like Saad bin Muaz, Allah made the process gentle and brief. The Prophet (sws) observed that while the grave constricted for him for a moment, it was immediately followed by “expansiveness” (kushadgi) and ease.

    Regarding the general concept of “Azab-e-Qabr”, Ghamidi Sahab categorizes people into three groups based on his study of the Quran and Hadith

    Opponents of Messengers: Those like Pharaoh, whose fate was decided in this world, face punishment immediately after death.

    The Exceptionally Righteous: Martyrs and the highly truthful (Siddiq) receive immediate favors and a “life of joy” in the Barzakh.

    The General Population: Most people, who have a mix of good and bad deeds, are “put to sleep” until the Day of Resurrection, when their final judgment and punishment or reward will begin.

    The squeezing experienced by Saad bin Muaz is viewed by Ghamidi Sahab not as a sign of divine displeasure, but as the final physical threshold of worldly existence that every human must cross.
