Something Being Inherently Religious
Assalamu Alaikum
Only that thing can be a Sunnah which is religious by nature and status.
In the urdu version he has written (presuming that the english translation is not a translation of the latest version):
سنت صرف وہی چیز ہو سکتی ہے جو اپنی نوعیت کے لحاظ سے دین ہو۔
Firstly, why did he remove the wording “یا جس کو نبی ص نے دین قرار دیا ہو/status” ?
Secondly, any act of worship is religious in nature, even when a Hindu person prostates infront of a statue. But what differentiates an Islamic religious act from a hindu religious act is if Rasool SAW has initiated that. When at the end of the day anything to reach the status of Islam must be authorised by Rasool SAW, doesn’t this first principle seem unnecessary. Wouldn’t it be enough if it was said “that which Rasool SAW has authorised/that which the Ummah has persistently transferred from one generation to the next saying that it has Rasool SAW’s authority “, which is stated in the seventh principle of Sunnah.
JazakAllah
