    Assalamu alaikum,

I am extremely confused about some answers on the Ask Ghamidi app regarding Salah, kufr, being Muslim, and the authority of the State. I have found several answers that seem contradictory to me, and I would really appreciate a detailed clarification.

    My main questions are:

    1. Ghamidi Sahib says that no human being can simply decide whether another person is truly a Muslim or a non-Muslim, since ultimately Allah knows what is in a person’s heart. If this is the case, how can a State declare someone legally or administratively “non-Muslim”?
    2. If being a true “kafir” before Allah is different from being classified as “non-Muslim” by the State, what exactly is the difference between these two statuses? What does “non-Muslim” mean in legal/administrative terms?
    3. Why would the State have the authority or need to declare a person legally non-Muslim simply because he does not pray?
    4. If a person believes that Salah is obligatory and accepts that Allah has commanded it, but nevertheless does not pray out of laziness, weakness or negligence, is this simply a major sin, or is the person actually committing kufr?
    5. If such a person is “doing kufr”, does that necessarily mean that he is a “kafir”? If not, what exactly is the difference between “committing kufr” and “being a kafir”?
    6. Does missing one prayer, repeatedly missing prayers, or completely abandoning Salah have different consequences? At what point, if any, does the issue become kufr rather than simply a serious sin?

I am asking because I have found answers on the app which seem to say both that abandoning Salah can constitute kufr and that someone who does not pray should not automatically be considered a kafir or a non-Muslim. I am having difficulty understanding how these statements fit together.

Could you please explain the whole issue from the beginning, using Ghamidi Sahib’s actual position and distinguishing clearly between:

    • Islam / being Muslim
    • Iman
    • kufr
    • kafir
    • committing a sin
    • committing kufr
    • apostasy
    • legal/administrative Muslim status
    • and a person’s actual status before Allah.

I would really appreciate a detailed and systematic answer because I have become extremely confused after reading many different answers on the app.

If possible, please treat this as a complete article rather than answering only the individual questions. I would like to understand the underlying principle and how all these concepts fit together, especially the relationship between the individual’s faith, Salah, kufr, and the State’s legal authority.

    JazakAllahu khairan.

Kufr means deliberate denial of Islam. To commit an act of kufr or adopt an idea that seems kufr without an intention to become Kafir or non-Muslim does not make one Kafir. It makes him or her sinful. Therefore the state or an individual has no right to call him Kafir.

The state, according to Ghamidi Sahib, can deny the rights of a Muslim to one who refuses to pray or pay zakat. But it cannot declare him kafir.

But there is a difference between non-Muslim and kafir?

From what I know Kafir is one who had the truth revealed upon him but Denide it out of arrogance, right?

But in today era we cannot call someone kafir,we can call him non Muslim, because we don’t know if the truth is revelead upon him ,because only on the period of Itman e Hujjat all the truth is revealed thoughr the Prophet. What we can say is ththe person who don’t pray is sinful but not non-Muslim as long as he know is obligatory the prayer and he don’t Denide it.

    Am i right
