    (11:38)

Ibn aashur and few other classical scholars and even some traditional translate it as “they planned, and Allah will punish them for this(as they planned)…

Emphasizing that this is a metaphorical expression as is commonly used in Arabic language in the same way…

We can’t attribute words like “makr” deceive to Allah… In in Arabic such expressions are often used in a figure of speech….and they thus associate it with The Allah’s plan in Aakhira..

Also same in the Quranic verse

They forget me , and I will forget them(normal translation)

They forgot me, and I will punish them for this(Ibn aashur)

There another verse in the Quran:

    وَجَزَاءُ سَيِّئَةٍ سَيِّئَةٌ مِّثْلُهَا

This is called the Majanisat. Using the same words with different connotations. The word attributed to the person changes its meaning.

My question was …why haven’t ghamdi Sahab prefered this meaning over the traditional meaning…as this meaning solves many confusions like attributing word “deceive” to Allah and so
