فيسبق عليه الكتاب
إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى مَا يَكُونُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا إِلَّا ذِرَاعٌ فَيَسْبِقُ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابُ فَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَيَدْخُلُهَا وَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ حَتَّى مَا يَكُونُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا إِلَّا ذِرَاعٌ فَيَسْبِقُ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابُ فَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَيَدْخُلُهَ
In this hadith, Qadr is referred to. But by the way its been worded here, doesnt it sound like qadr overrides efforts? as though whats written for every person is inevitable and will reach them no matter what they do or how hard they try to avoid it.. although i somewhat understand the concept of predestination, this hadith makes me question the point of human effort towards good or bad, if the end result is Allah’s final verdict on each of us.
also wanted to ask, what can one do to avoid being among the former?

The main reason I’m asking is because this hadith has really scared me, I natually tend to overthink quite alot and this has really been running on my mind and causing me anxiety. How should I take this other than hopelessness?

All such Ahadith are expression of Allah’s knowledge (‘Allah ka ilm‘) regarding each of his creations, but Allah doesn’t let his knowledge interfere with our freewill in matters for which we are to be held accountable.
Allah’s knowledge is absolute, for Allah knows who will go to heaven and who will go to hell, but they will do so after choosing those paths out of freewill given to them.
With this point being kept in mind, Ghamidi Sahab has taught all these hadith and related ahadith in this matter in the following videos.
