Interfaith Marriage – Sikh Man & Muslim Woman
As-Salamu Alaikum,
I am a Sikh man. I believe in one God and will remain Sikh. I do not ask my Muslim fiancée to abandon Islam, and I will support her practice of Islam. We wish to marry through Nikah. Under Javed Ahmad Ghamidi’s understanding of Tawhid, shirk, and the Qur’anic verses on marriage, is such a marriage prohibited, merely discouraged, or valid? Does the answer differ because Sikhism is explicitly monotheistic?

Muslim men are permitted to marry women from among the People of the Book, namely Jews and Christians. Muslim women, however, are not permitted to marry non-Muslim men.
