Misheard Lyrics In Music
Assalamualaikum. What’s the ruling on music which has lyrics that are originally vulgar or bad but they can be easily misheard , so the person wouldn’t ever understand them in his life , unless he reads the lyrics. Is it halal to listen to such music? Since he’d interpret it personally in something else. What if I know the lyrics now ?

Also , maybe the lyrics could be vulgar in the official song but he’d personally interpret it as something else? If someone decides himself, it could lead to seeing it as halal. Please clarify , if possible.

If you find it halal with a clear conscience, then it is halal for you.

Can you please tell an explicit ruling on this? For example, take metamorphosis song. You’d hear the words mostly as innocent and no bad effect would be on you, but the actual lyrics are very vulgar. Please tell exact ruling. This “conscience” thing isn’t for me. A conscience can’t be considered a fatwa. I think the full consensus of scholars wouldn’t consider it a fatwa. Please tell exact ruling on the exact situation.

Well , what about those scenarios that are fictional , but written in the lyrics? Like “I’m gonna kill you” , or “I held her hands” (like it’s about a fictional non mehram) etc? And not in just music but generally in poetry too?
