Assalamu Alaikum. I am seeking Islamic guidance regarding a specific issue. A woman in my family was approximately five months pregnant. Doctors indicated a possibility of a congenital defect or disability in the child, following which the pregnancy was terminated by the family.
To the best of my knowledge, more than 120 days had passed; the mother was in perfect health, and continuing the pregnancy posed no threat to her life. The decision was made based on the potential disability of the child.
My question is: what is the ruling under Shariah for this action? If it was impermissible, who bears the responsibility, the mother, the husband, the doctor, or others who made the decision or consented to it? Are Ghurrah, Diyat (blood money), and Kaffarah (expiation) obligatory? If so, upon whom, to whom, and in what manner?
Furthermore, what is the method for sincere repentance in this situation?
