  • Did Sheikh Ghamidi Ever Comment On The Problem Of Inherited Slavery ?

    Salam Alaikum,

As far as I know Ghamidi and the students of knowledge in this website say that Islam abolished taking prisoner of wars as slaves.

However some scholars say that another way of taking new slaves is inherited slavery, where a slave mother giving birth to a child, making that child a slave to the master (if the husband wasn’t the master).

Did Ghamidi ever comment on this? And was it abolished as well ?

If the master was a free man, his child with a slave girl was not considered a slave. However, if both the man and the woman were slaves, their child was considered a slave.

Slaves were given the facility to buy their freedom through the law of Mukatabat. According to this law, the government was obliged to pay the price of the slaves’ freedom to their masters, if they wanted to be free, from the fund of Zakat under the category of Riqaab.

However, most of the slaves did not avail themselves of this facility.
