    No, watching TV within itself is not a sin. However, the content that we watch can be immoral, which obviously is not permissible. Also, if we binge watch oblivious of our other responsibilities then it could enter the boundaries of sinning as well.

    So we can see only religious lectures and documentaries on tv. No tv shows or dramas? I listened a scholar who said a man can’t watch tv if there is a woman in that show even it’s a religious lecture and the same for women.

      Can you please let us know which scholar said it ? I am sure Ghamidi saab is not of this view, and many Muslim scholars don’t subscribe to such a view.

    Other than dietary restrictions, permissibility of anything should be determined based on the broad categories mentioned in Quran 7:33.
