    Hi,

I want to know if Allah while revealing the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad, listed the best way to read and understand it. I am asking this, because I find different scholars reading the same verse, coming up with different interpretations of the verse and sometimes their conclusions are opposite to each other. I am assuming the best intention of both the scholars as well as good knowledge of Arabic.

So, obviously both of them can’t be right. Allah’s intended message is being misinterpreted by one of them. They are using different methods to interpret a ruling.

How can one be sure which sources define the context of the verse and how would Prophet Muhammad have interpreted it ?

Are there some verses which are universal, and for all time and some verses which are specific to Prophet’s time only ? How do we know which verses/rulings are for all the Muslims and which verses/ruling are for specific time of Prophet only ? Did Allah make it clear in the Qur’an ?

Is it a particular school (Farahi) of interpretation or did Allah clearly specify the way to read it ?

We would obviously interpret it based on its status and words etc. All these things are taken into account in the Farahi school. If someone tells us a mistake or an additional usul or why one usul is not correct we would listen to their reasoning.

      It’s reasoning intellect and evidence

There are only a handful of methods that have been used in interpreting the Quran. If one chooses to pick the right interpretation, they can read about those methods and pick the one that makes more sense. These methods are generally described in the beginning of tafseers.

The method employed by the Farahi school is a very natural linguistic approach, and the Farahi scholars insist that this is the only method that leads to single translation of any verse in the Quran. In contrast, all other methods leave room for different translations/interpretations. In fact in many tafseers, one can find the author explaining multiple meanings of many verses.

If you want to understand the Farahi approach to understanding the Quran, the first half of this video summarizes it very well.
