    Mufti Abu Layth explains how surah falaq talks about nightfall which is not inherently harmful but has thievery and murder etc associated with it. And it talks about envy which isn’t inherently harmful but causes jealousy and potentially violence.

    So he says the blowing in knots doesn’t actually cause any harm, as Ghamidi sahab says , but it is the consequences from which we seek refuge. This being superstitious beliefs and shirk etc.

    I don’t see how the throne was transported by nafsi ilm. If anything it was knowledge of matter not the soul. Same with harut and marut- why couldn’t it be an ilm to do with the brain and people were giving them drugs etc?

      I also think if nafssi ullooom are so powerful as described then we don’t need the scientific knowledge if we transported things we can also transport ourselves than we don’t need airplanes and trains . Ancient world should be more beautiful and modern than today’s society

    What is the question?

      Is this interpretation correct of Abh Layth that the evil eye and black magic has no reality

      In don’t think that’s a correct opinion. These are things that people have experienced for thousands of years and some have even mastered them. Of course there are lots of quacks around, but that doesn’t deny the existence of such phenomena.

      Maybe the reference of harut and marut teaching magic can be provided as evidence. But do you agree that the verse in surah falaq has a different meaning and is referring to the consequences of the things that we seek refuge from rather than the things itself as mentioned above?

    Surah Falaq and Surah Nas have been given to us for protection against jadoo, nazar. So we should read these surahs. There are some people who have the knowledge of removing nazar and jadoo. But you have to stay away from quacks who take money and you fall into their trap.

    @UmerQureshi

    Can it be concluded that black magic exists? But surah falaq is not talking about that specifically?

      I see it as a reference to ‘magic related acts’ (113:4), so I can’t agree with your conclusion.
