At the time of the prophet ﴾ﷺ﴿ did women stand at the back or in the same place as men?

@UmerQureshi
What’s the desired and practical way for Muslim men & women to pray in a mosque?
1. Traditional (men in front and women in the back
2. Splitting rows in half-half for men & women
Thanks

Desired way is what has been prescribed in Surah Nur regarding norms of Gender Interaction. For Salah, there are some additional adaab but the manner in which to stand in rows mainly depends on societal and circumstantial needs and requirements.
