    Al-Ahzab – 33:33

The first bit of this ayah is obviously referring to females because of the verb endings. But when talking about ahlul bayt it refers to men and women?

If ahlul bayt were only female it should’ve said عنكن not عنكم

“If ahlul bayt were only female it should’ve said عنكن not عنكم”

I don’t think your concern applies here. This is in regards to Ahlul Bayt (people of the household) “not” if they were all men or women.

Wait sorry. Are ahlul bayt here referring to the wives of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم only in Ghamidi sahabs understanding?

It makes sense that the context should mean that ahl bayt is female. But why are masculine pronoun endings used still? Is it because the word ahl is masculine?

English doesn’t have this specificity for you and genders
