Ghamidi sahab often says that there cannot be two heads of a household. Why not? Why does there have to be responsibility in this system? What will happen if someone doesnt fulfil this responsibility? What if both choose the responsibility?

Does there have to be one final decision maker? If this institution runs on love why can’t we simply come to a compromise. For example schooling. Wife decides one time- husband the other. Or they choose neither school and find one they both agree on.

Why does it have to be so robotic?

This is to safeguard interest of a child in case a serious discord or a mishap arises. The well being of a child cannot be left to mere love between a couple, explicit responsibilities have had to be laid out along with fear of accountability in front of God. In normal circumstances, these matters happen very smoothly by mutual consultation and this is the required attitude from both as well, however, all contingencies need to be taken into account and relevant provisions have had to be incorporated to prevent a major mishap in this regard. God is neither standing with the husband, nor with the wife, in fact He is on the side of a child to safeguard his/her rights.
