If someone says something rude and then we seperate ourselves from him and say he was rude (which he wouldn’t like) is that gheebah/backbiting?

I’m pretty sure it is just wanting to make sure

You separated yourself and that’s enough. Instead of verbalising his mistake/mistake or even sin, a prayer to forgive the said person would be better. Both for him and for you too. Since, ‘he was rude’ would fall under lughw too if you think deeper. But dua for their forgiveness could out both of you in a better position in this world and the next, InshaAllah.

Saying behind his back that he’s rude is gheebah. Separating yourself is problematic also, especially if he is a relative. Forgive him make dua’ for him and yourself and stay connectedGrinning
