Quran 2:256 – No Compulsion In Religion
Surat No 2 : سورة البقرة – Ayat No 256
لَاۤ اِکۡرَاہَ فِی الدِّیۡنِ ۟ ۙ قَدۡ تَّبَیَّنَ الرُّشۡدُ مِنَ الۡغَیِّ ۚ فَمَنۡ یَّکۡفُرۡ بِالطَّاغُوۡتِ وَ یُؤۡمِنۡۢ بِاللّٰہِ فَقَدِ اسۡتَمۡسَکَ بِالۡعُرۡوَۃِ الۡوُثۡقٰی ٭ لَا انۡفِصَامَ لَہَا ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ سَمِیۡعٌ عَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۲۵۶﴾
دین کے معاملے میں کوئی زور زبردستی نہیں ہے ۔ 285 صحیح بات غلط خیالات سے الگ چھانٹ کر رکھ دی گئی ہے ۔ اب جو کوئی طاغوت 286 کا انکار کر کے اللہ پر ایمان لے آیا ، اس نے ایک ایسا مضبوط سہارا تھام لیا ، جو کبھی ٹوٹنے والا نہیں ، اور اللہ﴿ جس کا سہارا اس نے لیا ہے﴾ سب کچھ سننے اور جاننے والا ہے ۔
Above mentioned verse clearly states there’s no compulsion in religion then why do our traditional religious mindset tries to give fatwas about peoples faith ? This verse is always used as an example by people who believe in religious tolerance but our traditional religious mindset never accepts their argument. Why is that? Is there some hidden meaning of this verse which common people like us don’t understand?
