Nails should be kept properly trimmed all times but their length has no bearing on acceptance of Salah. However, one might be held accountable if one shows carelessness towards physical purity as well. These are both requirements of religion (Salah and properly trimmed nails) but are independent of each other just like Roza and Salah are both independent requirements of religion in Ibadah category.
