Wouldn’t a better translation be he is the one worthy of righteousness?

Is there anywhere else in the Quran where a sentence about God’s will ahs been mentioned and then someone else’s qualities have been mentioned- it doesn’t seem like a qur’anic style at all to end an ayah like this with attributes of other than God. Does taqwa mean fearing of someone- or does it mean specifically God? Could someone have taqwa of a king?

Did you find answer to – “what does it mean for God to be pious or righteous?”

Being ahl ul taqwa would mean being worthy of piousness

I meant you misunderetood Ghamidi/Islahi sb translation and you were asking to justify something they never translated.

      Ghamidi sahab’s translation

what does it mean for God to be pious or righteous?”

Yes I understand their translation now. But I don’t think it would make sense for that concept

Everyone else (major translations) have it like you mentioned in your original post – which also makes no sense to you.

      Just an FYI.

The verse is not saying that God is alone pious and worthy of being forgiven. Here’s a better English translation:

    Quran 74:56

    Translation by Asad

But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness.

I shared the islamawakened link. Many many say worthy. 2 say fount. 1 (to my knowledge) doesnt even relate it to God. How does اهل mean fount?

Sorry if I’m giving you too many things at once

It’s like if I don’t have knwo lodge and say a scholar knows more I’ll say لست باهل وهو اهله . So اهل means owning something and also, like in Urdu, in Arabic also means being worthy of something. So does the first اهل mean being worthy of something and the other mean owning the granting of forgiveness?

Or are they both for the من شاء ذكره- he has the quality of righteousness and he also is worth of forgiveness. What evidence is there for it being for God or من شاء?
