  • Does Hajj Wipe Out Sins?

Posted by Ahmad Shoaib on January 20, 2021 at 8:28 pm

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not utter any obscene speech or do any evil deed, will go back (free of sin) as his mother bore him.”

    Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1449; Muslim, 1350.

Is this hadith true? Does hajj wipe out all sins? What about huqooq ul ibaad? Because the Hadith says like the mother bore him

Given constant articles of Islam, the rest is subject to them. Greater sins, as told by the Quran can be forgiven if one repents and if repents immediately, he will be surely be forgiven, and also he needs to atone for his sins against humans.

(And remember that) Allah’s acceptance of repentance is only for those who commit evil out of ignorance and then soon repent. It is towards such persons that Allah turns graciously. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (4: 17-18)

The hadith refers to the sins which are forgiven if greater sins are not committed.

But if you avoid the major sins which you have been forbidden, We shall remit your (trivial) offences, and cause you to enter an honourable abode. (4:31)
